We are presently looking for students with backgrounds and/or demonstrated interest in the following areas: public affairs, business and administration, and information technology.  The student will have an opportunity to improve his or her writing, research, and analytical, logical, multi-tasking, and customer-service skills.

Additionally, student volunteers are provided with several networking opportunities with fellow interns, agency employees, and other government employers. We offer active participation in research projects and flexible working hours. Working language is English

Internship at the Afghan Embassy, Berlin.

The internship program at the Embassy of Afghanistan, Berlin invites applications for the position of voluntary internships. It provides a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable hands-on experience in international relations experience working in Afghanistan’s most influential overseas post in Europe.

Internship positions will be available across a range of disciplines related to the work of the Embassy – including, political, economic and trade, corporate, public diplomacy, international development and education.

Interns will be responsible for a discrete project that is meaningful to both the Embassy and the intern’s learning and development.


Duties may include:

• Research and reporting on politics, economics and trade,

education and culture.

• Supporting public diplomacy campaigns and events

• Reporting on development outcomes

• Supporting office management



To participating students must meet the following criteria:

• Must be citizen of Afghanistan or Germany

• Currently completing or recently completed a postgraduate degree

• Commit for the full internship period

• Minimum of intermediate English skills.


Declaration of secrecy

Interns are required to furnish to a declaration of secrecy before the commencement of the internship. Personal details may be shared with relevant agencies for security reasons.

Students with a connection to Afghanistan or Germany international relations are preferred.



Internships are unpaid.

Interns will be responsible for all costs associated with the internship. These may include but are not limited to: transport costs to and from the Embassy, travel and living arrangements, travel and medical insurance valid for Germany, passports and visas.

The selection process is highly competitive with a limited number of positions available. Applications should be thorough and demonstrate the student’s qualifications and suitability against the relevant criteria.
